Toray develops Prixia offset plate for beverage can printing

  Toray Graphics , a leading manufacturer of offset plate technologies , announced the development of a breakthrough dry offset printing plate designed to deliver exceptionally photorealistic imagery in two-piece beverage can printing .  The newly developed Prixia plate builds on Toray’s extensive expertise and track record in printing plate production using silicon rubber , one of the company’s core technologies for printing materials. Prixia delivers a printing quality of up to 250 lines per inch, compared to a resolution of 75 to 120 lines per inch for common photopolymer plates . Fujifilm launches Revoria PC 1120 6-color digital press in India

New Delhi, 24 August 2021, Fujifilm India, a pioneer in print-imaging technologies, announces its Revoria PC 1120, a production color printing press it says is aimed at the high-end professional printing market. The Revoria PC 1120 can print up to 6 colors simultaneously in a single pass. Fujifilm was earlier part of Fuji-Xerox from which it exited (separated) about three years ago and is now manufacturing and selling digital presses under its name. The Revoria PC 1120 press has a rated speed of 120 A4 pages a minute printing in 6 colors. In addition, the company’s press release states that the press’s output resolution of 2400 x 24000 driven by its 10-bit data server provides high-definition output. The Revoria PC 1120 will be sold and serviced by Fujifilm India’s local partner Insight Print Communications. Editorial – Emerging from the pandemic and other mayhem

We have long maintained that the pandemic and the ensuing lockdowns only highlighted the print industry's problems with a sluggish economy for seven quarters before Q4 of FY 2019-20. Nevertheless, like many other businesses, we were hoping for our investments to come good with the start of FY 2020-21. Like other publishing and print-related businesses, we had invested considerable effort and cash in a future that never came because of the first lockdown that began on 25 March 2020. As a result, private schoolbook publishers and printers never received the last quarter orders they usually get for the upcoming year. Many printers had already installed presses in the last quarter, and others were lucky not to because long-outstanding payments that were to arrive in Q3 and Q4 never arrived. Sometimes the outstanding amounts of the previous financial year keep coming in April also – with backdated checks. It took the following year for most but not all of these payments to arrive. Altana reaches its double-digit growth in the first half of 2021

  Altana achieved double-digit growth in the first half of 2021. In the first six months of the year, the specialty chemicals group’s sales rose by 24 percent to 1,334 million euros compared to the same period of the previous year (1,078 million euros), which was significantly influenced by the coronavirus pandemic .  The sales increase was driven by strong demand for Altana solutions in almost all sales segments. Adjusted for acquisition and exchange‑rate effects, sales were up by 26 percent. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) increased to 283 million euros, 40 percent above the previous year’s figure (202 million euros). Owing to demand, the EBITDA margin reached 21.2 percent in the first half of 2021, thus exceeding the company’s long‑term target range of 18 to 20 percent and the same period of 2020 (18.7 percent). Epson to launch T-series printheads

  Epson has announced a new T-series of printheads that use its PrecisionCore thin film piezo technology and are aimed primarily at the wide format sign market. Epson’s T3200 printhead includes a heater for UV ink and is designed primarily for entry level wide format printers. So far Epson has discussed two of these heads, the T3200, which uses four of its PrecisionCore chips, and the T1600, which uses two PrecisionCore chips. They use the same PrecisionCore chip as the S-3200, with the same piezo actuator, and therefore the same drop placement accuracy. They have a 7.5pl native drop size. Both heads have the same form factor at 113.4 x 52 x 30.35 mm and offer the same print width of 67.2 mm. The T-3200 can be configured for either two channels at 600dpi each or four channels at 300dpi each, while the T-1600 can be set up with a single color at 600dpi or two colors at 300dpi each.   DS Printech China , due to take place in Shanghai from 6 – 8 August, will be rescheduled due to the recent emergence of Covid-19 cases in different provinces in China. A new date for the digital and screen printing fair will be announced shortly. “In response to the relevant government authorities’ requirements on pandemic containment and to safeguard the health and safety of all attendees, we have decided to postpone DS Printech China to a later date,” Wendy Wen , senior general manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd explained.  “The wellbeing of all our stakeholders is paramount, while we also wish to ensure the fair takes place at a time when participants will be able to travel safely.
