Erhard Wienkamp: Messe Düsseldorf operative managing director to retire

  Erhard Wienkamp has worked in various functions at Messe Düsseldorf since 1993. After holding positions in the foreign trade department of the Federation of German Wholesale and Foreign Trade in Bonn and the German-Argentinean Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Buenos Aires, he took over the project management of the Papro, K and interpack trade shows at the beginning of his trade show career. Since 2002, the economics graduate has been responsible for Messe Düsseldorf’s international trade show business as divisional manager and authorized signatory. In this role, he was also responsible for partner and guest events, official participations such as the joint exhibition booths of the Federal Republic of Germany and the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, special events, and the management of Messe Düsseldorf’s international shows. OPA welcomes move to reduce GST on carton boxes

  The Offset Printers Association (OPA) has expressed satisfaction over the GST Council's recommendation to reduce GST on carton boxes from 18% to 12%. The decision, which applies to carton boxes and cases made from both corrugated and non-corrugated paper or paperboard, is seen as a significant boost for the print-packaging sector. The reduction in GST is expected to lower operational costs for the paper-based packaging industry, enabling businesses to offer more competitive prices to clients. The OPA thanked the GST Council for addressing its long-standing demand for a reduction in the tax rate. Kamal Mohan Chopra, former president of the World Print & Communication Forum (WPCF), praised the decision, stating, "We appreciate the GST Council's decision to reduce the GST on carton boxes. EDP accolade for Durst Group’s smart editor software

  The Durst Group , manufacturer of advanced digital printing and production technologies, has won a European Digital Press Association (EDP) award for layout, design and editing with its Smart Editor software. Announced at drupa 2024 in Düsseldorf, Germany, the EDP Technical Committee’s citation said Durst’s cloud-based application enables customers to “get exactly what they want”. The Durst Smart Editor is a cloud-based solution that allows the design of personalized print products directly in the customer’s web-to-print solution. Easily connected via plug-in and API, it allows users to get exactly what they want with real-time product personalization and realistic previews, receiving the orders as print-ready files. Indian printers and a publisher sign up for Fogra PSO certification

  Several Indian printers and a leading publisher signed for Fogra standardization and certification at drupa24 . This is a sign that process standardization and color management have gained traction over the past 25 years. In 2005, the well-attended Monsoon Summits on color management organized by IppStar took place in Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai – and among the global experts who spoke, the head of Fogra in Switzerland took part. In 2015, IppStar in association with IdealAlliance organized the G7 course, practical demonstrations, and the G7 Expert certification exam in Mumbai, with active ISO TC130 member Steve Smiley conducting the five-day program. Valmet to supply high-capacity winder to Wuzhou Special Paper in China

  Valmet will supply an OptiWin Drum two-drum base winder to Wuzhou Special Paper’s paper machine PM 19 in China. The main target of the investment is to have one winder to handle the high quality and capacity targets of the high-speed paper machine. The winder includes Valmet Perforating Splicer, a new innovation to support the fast parent roll change. The start-up of the winder is scheduled for 2025. The order is included in Valmet's orders received of the second quarter 2024. The value of the order will not be disclosed. “ Valmet winders are equipped with technologies necessary for high-speed printing paper machines. Also, the collaboration between Valmet and Wuzhou has been good in the past years: Valmet has actively participated in Wuzhou’s projects and always tried to respond to our needs.
