Down memory lane with Chacha Chaudhary

  Chacha Chaudhary is an iconic Indian comics series created by cartoonist Pran. In 2002, the comic took shape of a television series with Raghubir Yadav playing the lead role of Chacha Chaudhary. An animated television series by Toonz Animation followed in 2019. Chacha Chaudhary was first introduced in 1971 by cartoonist Pran Kumar Sharma in a comic created for the Hindi magazine Lotpot. The comic strips featuring Chacha Chaudhary had a common saying – “ Chacha Chaudhary ka dimaag computer se bhi tez chalta hai, ” which translates as Chacha Chaudhary's brain works faster than a computer. The popularity of the series was the wit and wisdom of Chacha Chaudhary and the absence of extraordinary powers and super gadgets flaunted by other comic book characters from that era. Book publishers, news media lawsuit against OpenAI

  The war between Indian publishers and artificial intelligence company OpenAI , the creator of the ChatGPT chatbot, is intensifying. It all began in November 2024 with news agency ANI taking the Microsoft-backed OpenAI to court, accusing it of using its published content in an unauthorized manner to train ChatGPT. Joining the bandwagon now is the New Delhi-based Federation of Indian Publishers , which represents names such as Bloomsbury, Penguin Random House, Cambridge University Press and Pan Macmillan, as well as India's Rupa Publications and S Chand and Co. The Digital News Publishers Association ( DNPA ) also wants to be a party to ANI's copyright infringement suit, following which Justice Amit Bansal of the Delhi High Court issued notice. VK Global commissions greenfield Faridabad plant

  In 2018, the leading Faridabad-based textbook publisher VK Global Publications got into printing by acquiring a plant in Manesar comprising book and packaging printing, binding, and converting equipment, along with luxury hard box-making capacity. In the past several years, the group rationalized the VK Global Digital Manesar plant with investments in converting and learned the commercial and carton-making processes. It then decided to build a greenfield plant in Faridabad, not very far from the publishing house. Within 22 months, the elegant purpose-built factory, along with several additional investments in equipment is humming. The VK Global Digital book printing and packaging project was ambitious from the blueprint stage. The planning embodied the group’s belief in designing modern work and production spaces. 3% growth in print ads in Jan-Sep 2024 – TAM AdEx

  Driven by sectors such as education, auto, and services, print media stayed relevant and resilient amid the digital onslaught with a 3% increase in ad space during January to September 2024 compared to the same period last year, says the latest TAM AdEx report. Education took the lion’s share of print ad space, contributing 17% to the total advertising volume with educational institutions and eLearning platforms leveraging print to reach readers, says the report seen by Indian Printer & Publisher. The auto sector was dominant with cars maintaining the top position at 7% share of total ad space. Two-wheelers saw the highest growth, climbing to the third spot with a 49% increase in ad space. The top 10 advertisers added 9% share of ad space in Jan-Sep 2024. The top six sectors maintained their rankings from Jan-Sep 2023 to Jan-Sep 2024.
