Kalachuvadu Publications wins ‘Publisher of the Year

 

Kalachuvadu Publications has won ‘Publisher of the Year’ of the Publishing Next Industry Awards 2023, announced on Sunday, 31 March 2024. Based in Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu, Kalachuvadu, a noted publisher of Tamil books, emerged first “...[for] the fearlessness with which Kalachuvadu seems to publish: books with incendiary topics, subversive yet progressive. Their books, their ideas, their commitment to quality is truly heartening and inspiring. There’s no disputing the fact that Kalachuvadu is trying something new and something intrepid, and also socially relevant.“

This is the second time that Kalachuvadu has won ‘Publisher of the Year at the Publishing Next Industry Awards; the first was in 2018.

The annual Publishing Next Industry Awards (PNIA) recognize and reward talent, initiative, entrepreneurship and quality in book publishing, across publishers of all sizes and in all Indian languages. 

Instituted by the Margoa (Goa)-based platform, Publishing Next – which promotes discussion and networking within the book publishing sector – the Publishing Next Industry Awards celebrate innovation and leadership in the pan-Indian book trade. 

The 2023 awards also reward excellence in editing, illustration, cover design and book production (see table below). The Publishing Next Industry Award for Bookstore of the Year – the only prize in the country for independent bookshops – was not announced this year due to an insufficient number of entries in the award category.

Leonard Fernandes, co-founder of Publishing Next, says that “the fact that these Awards have been presented consecutively for 10 years now, and in a wide array of categories, speaks to both, the respect the Awards have garnered from the publishing community as well as its commitment towards continuously encouraging publishing excellence.”

Koenig & Bauer 2020 H1 revenues decline by 20.1%

In addition to the general investment restraint on the part of many customers in the corona crisis, travel bans, lockdowns, and other restrictions significantly affected the business figures of the Koenig & Bauer group in the first half of 2020. The restrictions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic particularly impeded deliveries of the presses to the international customers as well as the worldwide deployment of the assembly staff and service technicians. At €480.2 million, orders were 16.2% lower than in the previous year, although this was better than the sector trend for printing presses published by industry association VDMA. Green advertising provider CashurDrive's initial public offering

  CashurDrive Marketing Limited , a green media publicity services provider in India, announced the filing of its Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP) with NSE Emerge. The company’s initial public offering comprises a fresh issuance of 35,42,400 equity shares and an offer for sale of up to 11,37,600 equity shares, each with a face value of Rs 10, through the book-building route. The offer for sale is by selling shareholder Parveen K Khanna. According to DRHP, CashurDrive intends to utilize Rs. 27 crore of the total proceeds from the IPO to fund its working capital requirements and plans to use the remaining capital for general corporate purposes.
